Container King ANNOUNCES AC462 COMPLIANCE
Denton, TX 12/29/2023 — Today Container King, Inc. announced that it has received approval from the International Code Council’s Evaluation Service (ICC ES) to supply upon request ISO shipping containers that comply with the provisions of the 2021 and 2018 International Building Code® and International Residential Code®. This confirmation is evidenced in the ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR-5226).
The certification provides assurances to code officials tasked with approving the use of shipping containers under these codes. The evaluation report is available online at www.icc-es.org.

This accomplishment further diversifies and expands Container King’s container sales and modification capabilities.

Until as recently as 2016, code officials struggled with permitting container structures because they would have to make an individual decision about the structure’s safety based on the provisions outlined in ICC’s Alternative Means and Methods Section. Officials often found themselves in the uncomfortable position of making a decision about an unfamiliar building material, and developers worried whether their buildings would be approved at all.
The growing demand for guidance led the ICC to introduce AC462, a means of inspecting and approving shipping containers as safe building materials.
Reaching AC462 compliance meant Container King expanding its existing quality control management system to include thorough documentation and precise standards.
The industry anticipates confidence in coding container structures will grow as more companies achieve AC462 compliance, and customers see the coding process expedited.
